A Special Visit from Luis Hermoso of Telemundo’s En Vivo
We were honored to host Luis Hermoso, the charismatic host of Telemundo’s popular show En Vivo. Known for its engaging content, the show highlights gastronomy, entrepreneurship, and inspiring stories from the Hispanic community across the United States.
During his visit, we had the chance to share our heartfelt journey as immigrants in the U.S. Nancy Ojeda, the proud owner of our restaurant, recounted the family’s inspiring story—how they left their beloved Paraguay, the challenges they faced, and the dream that led to the creation of this restaurant. It’s a dream rooted in a deep love for our culture and a desire to bring the flavors of Paraguay to our fellow countrymen here in the U.S.
Luis was captivated as we explained the origin of our restaurant’s name, inspired by the longing for our beautiful homeland, Paraguay. He delighted in sampling some of our most cherished dishes, including our famous empanadas, traditional cocido (Paraguayan tea), and a variety of authentic desserts that reflect the sweet side of our culinary heritage.
We also took the opportunity to showcase our newly launched line of branded soft drinks, a project close to our hearts. In addition, we discussed some exciting upcoming initiatives that we can’t wait to share with our customers and community.
Having Luis visit was a truly special moment for us. His genuine interest in our story and his appreciation for our food reminded us why we do what we do—sharing the richness of Paraguayan culture, one dish at a time.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring the flavors of Paraguay to life, and thank you to En Vivo for giving us the platform to share our story!
A Memorable Visit from Dahiana Pérez of New York Live
We were thrilled to welcome Dahiana Pérez, a host from New York Live, to our restaurant! The popular lifestyle show airs weekdays at 11:30 PM on 4 New York (WNBC) and is known for featuring an exciting mix of fashion, beauty, celebrity interviews, cooking, arts, and inspiring stories from the tri-state area.
During her visit, we had the opportunity to showcase the heart and soul of our restaurant: traditional and authentic Paraguayan cuisine. It was a joy to share the rich flavors, cultural heritage, and the passion that goes into every dish we serve. As we spoke with Dahiana, the conversation flowed naturally, touching on our journey, the inspiration behind our menu, and what makes Paraguayan food so special. Of course, the highlight of the visit was watching her enjoy bites of our most beloved dishes.
We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to shine a spotlight on Paraguayan culture and cuisine for a broader audience. It was an honor to be featured, and we can’t wait to welcome more visitors who are curious to experience the authentic tastes of Paraguay right here in New York.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates, and if you haven’t already, come visit us to savor the flavors that made this visit so special!
My Experience at Gramo: Sharing Paraguayan Culture Through Gastronomy
Gramo is an inspiring platform that brings together thought leaders and changemakers to share ideas that drive action. Originating in Asunción, Paraguay in 2012, the initiative has grown to host international editions, including its first U.S. event in 2016 and a Latin American edition in Medellín, Colombia later that year.
I had the incredible honor of being a speaker at GramoUSA, where I shared my journey as an entrepreneur and how my family and I have brought Paraguayan culture to the United States through gastronomy. As the proud owner of I Love Paraguay restaurant in Sunnyside, Queens, NY, I spoke about our mission to preserve and share the rich culinary heritage of Paraguay.
Since emigrating to New York in 2000, my family and I have worked tirelessly to introduce Paraguayan flavors to a broader audience. In 2007, we opened I Love Paraguay, which has since gained recognition from prestigious media outlets like The New York Times and ABC News' Neighborhood Eats.
Gramo was an incredible opportunity to share this journey with a diverse audience, highlighting how food can serve as a bridge to connect cultures and celebrate heritage. It was truly inspiring to be part of a platform that amplifies voices and sparks meaningful change.
